In a lifetime, about 80% of the time is spent indoors. The elderly, infants and young children will spend more time indoors. Therefore, indoor air quality has an important impact on people's health.
Once indoor air is polluted, it will bring harm to human health. So, how does indoor air pollution form? What are its hazards? How should we prevent indoor air pollution?
Main factors of indoor air pollution:
1. Pollution of the building itself
The building itself will have pollutants, one of which is the chemical substance added in the construction; the other is the radioactive substance in the underground soil and the stone, floor tiles, and ceramic tiles in the building-radon, which is a colorless Odorless natural radioactive gas. Because radon is a radioactive gas, after inhaled into the human body, radon will decay and cause radiation damage to the respiratory system. In severe cases, it can cause lung tumors.
Decoration is also one of the sources of indoor pollution. According to the Qilu Evening News, the pollution sources of decoration are mainly wood panels, glue, paint and other building materials. These building materials contain formaldehyde and benzene. They can make people feel dizzy, irritable, and respiratory tract irritation. In severe cases, they can endanger the liver and lung functions of the human body and induce blood system diseases.
2. Indoor air pollution caused by combustion products
Cooking and smoking are the main sources of indoor burning pollution. The oily smoke in the kitchen and the smoke in cigarettes are extremely complex, among which gaseous substances account for 90%, and many substances are carcinogenic.
3. Pollution caused by human metabolism and domestic waste
The body's own metabolism and the volatile components of various domestic wastes are also a cause of indoor air pollution. When people move indoors, the human body will discharge a large amount of pollutants through the respiratory tract, skin, and sweat glands.
Harm of indoor air pollution:
According to the latest research report in 2021, the harm of indoor air pollution is the most important cause of respiratory infections. In acute infections, viruses account for 90%, and there are more than 200 types of viruses.
Some pathogenic microorganisms will spread through the air, causing infections in susceptible people; some common viruses and bacteria caused diseases such as influenza, SARS, measles, tuberculosis and other respiratory infectious diseases will be spread indoors through the air.
Many indoor chemical pollutants are irritating gases, which can irritate the eyes, nose, throat and skin, causing reactions such as tearing, coughing, and sneezing. If things go on like this, it will make people's respiratory function decline, and also lead to a variety of respiratory diseases.
How to prevent indoor air pollution?
First of all, we must control indoor pollution sources. There are many ways to control indoor pollution sources, such as choosing green building materials and decorative materials, purchasing environmentally friendly furniture, and using chemicals sparingly and sparingly.
At the same time, we must strengthen indoor ventilation and use fresh outdoor air to dilute indoor air pollutants and reduce their concentration. It is recommended to keep air purification facilities at home to purify the indoor air, which is more efficient.
In addition, we can also use range hoods to reduce indoor air pollutants. The use of a range hood can reduce the pollution of cooking fume in the kitchen. Don't turn it off immediately after cooking, it should be turned on for another 3-5 minutes.
The range hood should be cleaned after 3-6 months of use. Because it is easy to adhere to toxic oil fume components, over time, in addition to being inhaled by the cook, it may spread to the living room and aggravate indoor air pollution.
